Who should
attend?
Potential and existing Appointed Persons who have received
no formal instruction and those requiring refresher training.
Duration:
2 days including safety awareness and achievement
test.
Aims:
To give training and assessment towards the LGH Training
Certificates of Training achievement and provide proof of
training for use at the delegate's place of work.
Content:
At the end of the course the Appointed Person should
be able to:
- understand the reuirements of the
relevant legislation i.e. BS7121
- carry out planning of lifting operations
- select appropriate personnel, cranes
and lifting equipment
- take account of operating conditions
and precautions to be taken
- confirm the correct method of slinging
and handling techniques
- complete Method Statements and Risk
Assessments
Knowledge:
Delegates require prior awareness of the basic principles
of risk assessment and slinging techniques. At the end of
the course the responsible person should have an adequate
knowledge of:
- the duties and responsibilities, as
required by statute, of an Appointed Person
- the checks to carry out for the satisfactory
planning of lifting operations
- the selection and safe use of cranes,
lifting equipment and qualified, competant personnel
- the skills, knowledge and experience
needed to carry out the duties of the Appointed Person
as defined in BS7121
