Who should attend?
Potential and existing operators who have received no formal instruction and those requiring refresher training.
Duration:
1 day including safety awareness and achievement test.
Aims:
To give training and assessment towards the
LGH Training
Certificates of Training achievement and provide proof of training for use at the delegate's place of work.
Content:
At the end of the course the operative should be able to:
- understand the requirements of the relevant legislation
- select appropriate lifting accessories and attach/detach to a load in a safe and proper manner
- state the correct and incorrect uses and basic maintenance requirements of various items of lifting equipment
- rig, inspect, manage, handle and store lifting equipment using recommended practice
- establish the weight, centre of gravity, balance and dimensions of regular loads
Knowledge:
At the end of the course the operative should have an adequate knowledge of:
- the duties and responsibilities, as required by statute, of a lifting equipment operative
- the effects of load movement on the stability of an appliance
- the methods of establishing weights, centre of gravity, balance and dimensions of loads
- the standard codes of signals
- how to move regular loads in a safe and proper manner
- the correct and incorrect operation of specific lifting equipment
- training requirements
- the factors to consider when planning to lift a regular shaped load
