Safe Use of Abrasive Wheels (LETI 13)
Who should attend?
Potential and existing operators who have received no formal instruction and those requiring refresher training.
Duration:
1 day including safety awareness and achievement test.
Aims:
To give training and assessment towards the
LGH Training
Certificates of Training achievement and provide proof of training for use at the delegate's place of work.
Content:
At the end of the course the operative should be able to:
- understand the requirements of the relevant legislation
- use abrasive wheels in a safe and proper manner
- confirm the marking, handling and storage requirements
- carry out inspection checks and mounting of specific types of abrasive wheels
- determine the correct PPE to be worn for the type of work activity
- list the correct and incorrect uses of abrasive wheels
- confirm the factors which must be considered for the safe use of abrasive wheels
Knowledge:
At the end of the course the operative should have an adequate knowledge of:
- the duties and responsibilities, as required by statute, of the user of abrasive wheels
- the correct and incorrect uses
- mounting, truing and dressing of abrasive wheels
- the correct PPE for working with abrasive wheels
- the safe and proper practices when using this type of equipment
