Safe Use of Ladders (LETI 21)
Who should attend?
Potential and existing users who have received no formal instruction and those requiring refresher training.
Duration:
Half a day including safety awareness and achievement test.
Aims:
To give training and assessment towards the
LGH Training
Certificates of Training achievement and provide proof of training for use at the delegate's place of work.
Content:
At the end of the course the operative should be able to:
- understand the requirements of the relevant legislation
- recognise the different types of ladders and be aware of their correct and incorrect uses
- carry out pre and post use inspection and identify faults requiring maintenance and repair
- plan the practical use of ladders including the need to risk assess before starting work
- confirm the recommended procedures for the safe storage, transportation and recording of information
Knowledge:
At the end of the course the operative should have an adequate knowledge of:
- the duties and responsibilities, as required by statute, of the owner of the ladders
- the practicalities of the safe and proper use of ladders
- the in-service inspection of ladders, which is a visual inspection to check for obvious signs of damage or wear that may affect the ladder's fitness for use
- the differnet types of ladders
- the recommended management, storage and control methods
